| In ancient times there came a legend about the pelican. The
legend, which has some variations, tells the story of a mother pelican's sacrifice to save the lives of her fledglings. In the story, in a time of famine,
the mother pelican would puncture her own chest and sacrifice her blood, and
even her life, to feed her young. Another version leaves out the famine, saying that a mother pelican would sacrifice her life by giving her blood in order to
revive her dying young. From these legends early Christianity adopted the pelican as a
symbol of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just as the pelican sacrifices herself for her
children, Jesus gave his life for all of us – His Children. For it's mascot, Home Furniture & Mattress Outlet has also adopted a pelican - Larry.

Meet Low Price Larry!
In 2006 after being lost and looking for a home, Larry came
to Home Furniture & Mattress Outlet where he quickly became a part of the family.
Most days he can be found in the office of Home Furniture watching over
day-to-day operations. Occasionally he does get adventurous and likes to hide
in different areas of the store, always able to see what is going on though. Since
being here Larry’s personality has really grown, he enjoys sporting different
looks, and his look changes depending on what is going on. He can been seen
with a mohawk, sideburns, chest hair, hats, scarves, and/or even jewelry when
the occasion calls for it. Larry’s favorite thing to do is help with sales and
work discounts for all customers. He can be spotted on signs through out the
store, letting you know that you are getting a great deal.
